Four days from now I will be sweating profusely, shaking like a chihuahua, and running around like a sugar-crazed four-year-old. OK, well, hopefully, not that bad. But I'll be one nervous guy. I can't believe the rally is almost here. We have received such widespread support from our community that I'm really not stressed out anymore. My leaders are incredible, and we have more than enough volunteers to pull this thing off. Schools, churches and businesses have all come along side us in this effort. This is no longer just a group of my friends and me trying to get it off the ground - it is a city-wide grassroots movement that is spreading like a wildfire.
If you're not sure what I'm talking about, Charlotte Torch Rally is going to be held this Saturday, December 1st at Independence Plaza (Trade & Tryon Uptown) at 1:00 p.m. PLEASE come out and support us! We're going to have traditional African dancers; original poetry; music by Lamont Hiebert, modern-day abolitionist and co-founder of Love 146; and a handful of speakers, including David Johnson and John Prendergast, renowned human rights activist, speaker, and author. It is going to be an exciting, emotionally-charged, inspirational, powerful day that you won't want to miss. If you're there, please look me up. And invite all your friends! Let's send a message to the US government that this genocide is important to us and it must stop!!!

Please Call The President
The peacekeeping mission to Darfur is in jeopardy because the hybrid AU/UN soldiers to be deployed do not have the necessary weaponry to do their job - read more here. The Sudanese government is obviously dragging their feet and failing to cooperate - but of course they're going to drag their feet when the international community is not turning up the heat. Please call the president and tell him enough is enough! We cannot let Sudan continue to murder the innocent people of Darfur! Go to the Genocide Hotline for talking points. If we do not speak up for these people, who will?
