Get a life

Last night on Current TV, I watched a story about these guys that were totally consumed by the game World Of Warcraft, especially playing it online. They admitted to spending entire days on the game! What a bunch of self-absorbed, socially-inept losers. Come on, please tell me you're thinking the same thing! Last week while you were putting in 10 or 12 hour days, these guys were plastered on their butts in front of a computer monitor doing absolutely nothing worthwile. How does this help society? What do they contribute? While the Social Security system is dying and we're helping it hang by a thread with our payroll taxes, these blatant snubbers are "sticking it to the man." And with little regard for the rest of the world.

I have a word for this kind of lifestyle: lazy. Don't get me wrong, I would love to get an Xbox 360 and sit at home all day and play. And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with gaming. Several of my friends have Wii's or 360's - and it's cool when done in moderation. My point is that when your entire life revolves around fantasy, you have a serious problem. When you've lost the ability to interact with the world other than via your online identity, you need professional help.

Steve...Well said. I think I know those guys. One of them is my old bud and is now in his 30's and lives in his parents' basement.
